Noel Sarrazin, local historian, takes us to Hill 314 the location of one of the most crucial battles of the war. On this hill top, a single battalion of 30th Infantry Soldiers completely surrounded by several SS Panzer Divisions, held off the attack for six days. Eisenhower himself ordered that hill 314 be held at "all costs." Noel tells us that the battle of Mortain is considered to be the beginning of the end for the German Army and one of the most significant battles of WWII.
