In towns and villages throughout Europe whenever the convoy and soldiers would arrive, thousands lined the streets to honor the returning WWII veterans. Families came to welcome the veterans and share stories about the war and the unforgettable moment of their liberation. Many proclaimed "we owe our lives to these soldiers...we would not be here today if it were not for the Americans."
