On the sands of Omaha beach the sound of the ocean can be heard lapping the shores just as it did 65 years ago. The landscape looks remarkably serene almost deceiving you of the chaos and bloodshed that once graced its shores. Here at the bunkers Peter Munger recalls the landing at Normandy. He was on his way to become a replacement at the battle of St. Lo. Peter reflects on the difficult terrain, the cliffs the men had to overcome, the intense German defenses, as well as the horrific losses our soldiers suffered during the invasion. "It took shear guts"... he recalls.
