JOHN EYSSEN
During the war, John’s family survived by hiding in the local Marlstone mines near Valkenburg. When the Germans were finally driven-out John’s family was discovered by the Americans. One of our 30th veterans who drove-away the Germans later connected with John and discovered that he was one of the children rescued by Old Hickory. More than 6 decades later they were again reunited in the film and spent the day reminiscing about the war, knowing that one would not be here, had it not been for the other rescuing them from the caves. Their compelling story reflects upon a true moment in history.
