Adopt-a-grave, Cadier en Keer, The Netherlands
As a small boy, Jurgens’ life changed when friends began to teach him about WWII and took him to the Margraten American Cemetery. My initial feelings were “icy cold” he recalls, as I stood amongst the many graves. Those feelings were soon replaced with a sense of warmth and joy as he joined the adopt-a-grave organization. Today, Jurgen and wife Rini, oversee the graves of two American soldiers. The tragedy of these young men has enjoined them with the American families who they now consider some of their “best friends.” During our filming and tours to the Netherlands, they help survey and organized many locations for our filming. |
