During our first tour to Europe, we met Mayor Michel Desfoux in Mortain ,France. The mayor not only offered to support the filming but to honor the 2 veterans who were traveling with us. Days later while filming atop Hill 314, we heard distance music coming from the woods. Suddenly a group of local citizens appeared marching up the hill playing a US Army marching song. They came to honor our veterans and the Old Hickory Division that liberated their town in August, 1944. We grabbed the cameras to capture this unexpected and impromptu ceremony - organized to honor our two visiting veterans. Throughout the filming, our entire crew found the citizens gratitude and mayor’s kindness almost overwhelming. "Vive le France"!
